My name is Jason McRoy and I am a vaper. Through vaping I have been able to quit smoking regular cigarettes and I am able to enjoy a happier life knowing that my lungs are not absorbing the incredible amounts of toxins that are found in cigarettes.
I came across the "electronic cigarette" in 2010 and saw it as an incredible opportunity to help me have an alternative to my 1 1/2 pack a day habit I was engaging in at the time. I saw this set up at a local mall and tried it. I did not buy their kit as it was pretty expensive. However, I did go home and checked out the internet for more information about this product.
I came across a "free trial offer" that I do not even remember the name of the company at this time. When I received it I was very excited. I tore open the package and read the instructions. I filled the little atomizer, charged up the batteries and took a "puff". Guess what? No vapor. Bad flavor. I was so disappointed as I had very high hopes for this product.
I sent the thing back and got my refund. They at least did not give me a hard time about giving me back my money.
I pretty much gave up until several months later I heard about this "electronic cigarette" made by a company called Blu. I checked up on it. They were selling a disposable version at my local Walgreens so I bought one for $7.99. It was so much better than that thing I had ordered before. There was a very good amount of vapor produced and the taste was pretty good to me. However, after I would puff on it for a little bit I still had the desire to smoke a real cigarette.
I went back and forth with the disposable version for several more months. I kept on smoking regular cigarettes at the same time but I always had the hope that I would one of these times be able to quit smoking and just use the Blu product.
I looked online at their website and saw they were selling a starter kit that was not a disposable version. It was on sale and I found a coupon online that made it even cheaper so I ordered it. I think the whole thing was about $45.00.
It arrived and I did the same thing I mentioned above with the other product. The only difference with this one was the cartridges that held the "juice" that gets vaporized were pre-filled and disposable. So, I did not have to bother with that step.
After the batteries were charged I gave it a go. My first impression was that it was pretty good. Tasted was similar to the disposable I had been using and the vapor amount was pretty good. I still somewhat had the desire for a cigarette after using it but I figured I would have to get used to it first.
The starter kit came with 5 pre-filled cartridges that you screw onto the battery. It was advertised as each cartridge being the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes. I quickly found this was not the case and I went through the cartridge pretty quick. I went online to order some more of their cartridges. Wow! They were kind of pricey. I did not have the money to order them and then have to wait for it to arrive while I was still having the desire to smoke real cigarettes. I could not afford both. So, I went back to smoking. This was in about November of 2011.
For the next several months I went back and forth with the disposable Blu e-cig and continued smoking.
In May of 2012 I saw a friend of mine smoking an "electronic cigarette" that looked very much like the Blu e-cigs I had smoked before. I asked him about it. He told me there is the new shop that opened up about 3 miles from my house that sells the vaping equipment.
I dashed off to check them out as soon as possible. They let me try their flavors of e-liquid while I was there. I puffed on their device. There were clouds of vapor and it tasted awesome. When I left I realized I had no desire for a regular cigarette for about an hour. I knew this was what I had been looking for. Now, their device did not look like the e-cigs I had tried in the past. It was about the size of a cigar. I didn't care about that if the thing will help me quit smoking. I did not have the money yet to purchase their starter kit but would in a couple of days.
On May 26th, 2012 I purchased their starter kit. It was a Saturday. I had a little less than a pack of cigarettes with me so I decided to give this thing a try and wean myself off the cigarettes. That remaining pack of cigarettes lasted me another 3 days. I have never smoked that little of an amount in 10 years. I was happy!
I started reading every piece of information I could find out there about vaping and came across a really great forum. It is www.e-cigarette-forum.com. They are awesome. I found out how much more you can get into this as a hobby. There are many different devices you can use. It was a little overwhelming at first but I am getting the hang of it now.
After a week of reading more information I decided to move up to the next best model and let my wife have my current set up. The new model is called a Vtube from Apollo E-cigs. I just received it in the mail on June 8, 2012 and I love it!
So, that is my story. I will be smoke free very soon as will be my wife. A new life thanks to vaping.
